It's time to strap your collective hand-eye coordination caps: Let's Design's Split 'em Up is a tricky little shooter, pitting your pair of laser cannons against hordes of aggressive alien critters.

The game plays like Space Invaders in a box. Use the left and right arrow keys to guide your cannons about the perimeter, while mashing that space bar to fire shots.

But if you're hoping to actually make any progress, you'll need to master your split-cannon techniques. Hit the up or down arrow to toggle between modes: red cannons are linked together, while blue cannons will travel independently of one another.

Score a double hit by hitting a target with fire from both cannons simultaneously, and you'll do a bit of extra damage, and can earn powerups that will replenish your shields, or increase your firepower.

It gets better – or worse, depending on how well you've honed your tactics. Stronger enemies will attack the fence your cannons are riding on directly, breaking it apart and restricting your movement. Cannons that slam up against one of these holes will begin to take damage. You can't control a cannon independently, so you'll want to take out the fence-bashers before they do too much damage. If one of your cannons gets trapped, your only hope is to soldier on and somehow manage to defeat the bosses that pop up intermittently to repair all of the damage incurred.

ProTip: If a bad guy is firing lasers at a wall, shoot them down first. It took me two or three tries just to make it past the fourth level, and by then there was so little terrain left the first boss made mincemeat out of my poor little firing squads.
