Correction: "It's simply the finest big-name MMO available today" should read "It's simply the finest non-WoW big-name MMO available today." Not sure how I dropped the most crucial part of that sentence. Apologies.

It's still a long way from rivaling World of Warcraft's playerbase, but Warhammer Online is doing very well, having just broke the 800,000 player mark.

As Eurogamer points out this only marks an increase of 50,000 players over the beginning of October, but any progress should be seen as a positive in the cut-throat world of MMO gaming.

I'm not about to take sides between WAR and WoW, but as we said in our review, those gamers tired of Blizzard's mega-hit should take a look at WAR. It's simply the finest big-name MMO available today and deserves all the success it's seen.
