Her band The Happy Hollows excels in amped punk, rock and pop that channels the mischievous vibe of the Pixies and The Breeders. And after watching the hilarious mockumentary, at right, celebrating the Los Angeles-based power trio's recently released EP Imaginary, it's clear she's also an unhinged movie star.
But is Sarah Negahdari the strangest woman in rock? You decide.
We'll say this: She's one of the coolest. A killer hybrid of Kim Deal, PJ Harvey and Emily Haines, Negahdari has the guitar chops, explosive energy and winning sense of humor that should make The Happy Hollows one of the more interesting band of our new millennium's next decade. Keep an eye out for her.

It's a blast that explodes from off-kilter anthems like "Tambourine" to angular shredders like "Lieutenant," staying aggressive and fun the whole way. Make sure to wait for the "Eruption"-like guitar solo on the latter tune; it's a priceless throwback stuck in the middle of a disjointed, addictive jam that winds down with a spaced-out coda before losing it altogether.
Like the finale of "Tambourine," and Negahdari in the mockumentary above, come to think of it. Rock weird, sister. Rock weird.
