Security updates were included in the latest update to Apple's Safari browser, released Thursday. The update fixes several Windows security flaws and includes an update to prevent malicious phishing software from obtaining access to your personal information.

The full list of updates are available at Apple's support website. Most of the security issues address the Windows version of the browser. However the phishing protection was rolled out through the browser's underlying rendering technology, Webkit, and was included in the Mac version as well.

According to the support site:

WebKit's plug-in interface does not block plug-ins from launching local URLs. Visiting a maliciously crafted website may allow a remote attacker to launch local files in Safari, which may lead to the disclosure of sensitive information. This update addresses the issue by restricting the types of URLs that may be launched via the plug-in interface.

You can download the latest version of Safari at Apple's website or you can rely on an automatic update as it is rolled out via Mac OS X's Software Update tool.
