Nintendo_dsiTOKYO -- Nintendo shipped 200,000 units of its new Nintendo DSi portable console for this past Saturday's Japanese launch, reports GamesIndustry.biz.

Sales figures have yet to be released, but it does look like the DSi -- priced at 18,900 yen ($190) -- has pretty much sold out, as least in all of the big chain stores I've checked in on since the launch.

Nintendo will ship another 100,000 units this week, to try and keep up with demand.

The DSi is not expected to see release in North America and Europe before mid-2009.
