Halo 3: Recon -- the disc-based expansion to Halo 3 announced at last month's Tokyo Game Show -- will be short, but cheap.

In the cover story of the December issue of Game Informer, the game is described as "a three to five-hour expansion pack," with the studio stating that it does "not view this as a $60 title."

Recon takes place during the events of Halo 2, with the action set in the city of New Mombasa on Earth. Players take on the role of a member of the Orbital Drop Shock Troopers.

The game is expected to come out in fall 2009.
