If you and the kids are planning on spending time at the grandparents' house for the holidays, there's a good chance they don't have an Xbox 360 sitting around. So unless you're all content with your handhelds, you can just get the kids to gather 'round the hand-me-down PC that grandma uses to check her email and play some good, old-fashioned computer games from last century.
The kind folks at GiantRealm have put together a list of Six Titles That'll Work on Nearly Any Machine:
Including such classics as Diablo 2, Planescape: Torment, and Fallout 2, the list covers the gamut from FPS to RTS to RPG. I would add to the list both the utterly hilarious Monkey Island series and the high fantasy turn-based strategy game Heroes of Might and Magic II.
So what old-school PC games would you like to share with your kids?
