Bethesda has announced upcoming downloadable content for Fallout 3, and it's exclusive to the Xbox 360 and PC (sorry, PlayStation 3 fans).

Arriving in January, "Operation: Anchorage" creates a brand new quest where your character has a chance to enter a military simulation, and fight off a Communist invasion in Alaska. In February, "The Pitt" will send us to an industrial raider town in Pittsburgh, where I presume fighting will also be involved. And in March, you'll be able to continue beyond the main quest, and aid those stalwart knights from the Brotherhood of Steel to fight off the Enclave. Sounds like a treat.

But – unless you're the sort that enjoys paying for extra quests or horse armor – that's not why you're excited.

No, we're all giddy because Bethesda has also announced the arrival of the Garden of Eden Creation Kit, the official editor for Fallout 3. Available in December (only on the PC, naturally), G.E.C.K. will let us to shape Bethesda's opus as we see fit, allowing the construction of entirely new locations, characters, dialogue, "and more." It'll also be free.

See? We just had to be patient, that's all. Now, once someone gets around to making a leather jacket for Dogmeat, my Fallout experience will be complete.
