The Outer Limits, the classic sci-fi TV series that deliberately screwed with your TV every week, is now available as a complete DVD set from MGM. Every show began with the same classic opening as a "control voice" got pushy with your TV and started playing around with the knobs and sending the vertical hold all silly.

That’s odd behavior considering that viewers deliberately sat down to watch the popular show for two thrill- and chill-filled seasons in the mid-1960s. There was no reason to hijack the TVs of a faithful audience when they showed up willingly — but that’s a control voice for you. What can you do?

Often compared to The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits was more straight science fiction than fantasy or horror. And, unlike Rod Serling’s show, every 60-minute Limits ended with a moral — some positive spin emerging out of even the scariest, darkest tale (like the über-fun "Zanti Misfits").

The Outer Limits Original Series Complete Box Set includes a celebration of the show’s 45th anniversary with every episode in one DVD edition.
