Update: An email to the WAR development team reveals that the two new classes are indeed appearing this December.

Two more classes are coming to Warhammer Online: the Empire’s Knight of the Blazing Sun and the Dark Elf Black Guard.

Both classes fill the traditional "tank" role, that of a big bruiser whose job is to both do frontline damage to any foes and absord any pain that might be headed for their less hardy companions.

Unfortunately, the official announcement contains no information on when WAR fans can expect to see these new additions, or if any extra cost might be associated with them. Nor did it contain any pictorial evidence of the new classes, so don't confuse the above tree-folk for either tank.

As per usual with WAR, both classes come with a wealth of background lore:

The Knights of the Blazing Sun are devoted to the cult of Myrmidia, goddess of warfare and protector of civilization. These frontline combatants specialize in Battlefield Commands, using applied tactical knowledge to outmaneuver their enemies and lead their allies to victory.

Dark Elf Black Guard, on the other hand, care little for tactics or guile. The embodiment of hatred and disdain, they make up the elite of the Witch King’s soldiers. Equipped with the finest armor and sharpest blades, the Black Guard is an indestructible wall of hate against which all foes are crushed.
