Cable service is so bad that Americans are actually nostalgic for the days when they were indentured phone customers.
That's (basically) the conclusion of a new survey from CFI Group, which found that, given the choice, Americans would prefer bundled services from telecom companies to cable companies by a 2 to 1 margin. CFI also notes, however, that cable companies serve twice as many consumers as telecom companies.
"The cable companies are asleep at the wheel if they don't see the threat from the telecoms," said Phil Doriot, program director for CFI Group, in a prepared statement. "But the network upgrades aren't going to happen overnight, so cable companies still have the opportunity to improve their customer service and cover their Achilles heel."
