appssavvy, a start-up that specializes in connecting advertisers and publishers in the social media space, has raised $3.1 million in Series A funding.
True Ventures led the round, with existing investor Scott Kurnit, founder of About.com, also contributing.
Earlier this month, appssavvy became "the exclusive advertising-sales team for the NBC News iCue social-media application."
The company works as a middleman between social media developers and major brand advertisers looking to move into the space, helping developers bring in revenue and offering targeted advertising to brands like Fox and Addidas. The company boasts working with 100 developers who account for 500 applications on Facebook and developers on a number of other social networking platforms, from Bebo to OpenSocial.
