In an effort to prevent accidents amongst senior citizens who drive, Allstate has turned to specially designed games.

Their goal is to test whether or not software can improve mental faculties – abilities that naturally diminish with age – and are even considering offering discounts on auto insurance for Adults over 50 who participate, should accident levels indeed drop.

The insurance provider has enlisted Posit Science, a company which specializes in providing brain fitness products. Posit Science's Insight software is designed around improving visual alertness and mental agility. Of the five games, only one of them even involves cars, and is focused on a player dividing their attention between road signs, and vehicles in their field of view.

The program will be launched in Pennsylvania, with 100,000 drivers being offered free brain training. Should the pilot program prove successful, the company is considering rolling it out in other states nationwide.

See? There really isn't anything video games can't do.
