Lazrhog’s port of Kenta Cho’s rRootage shooter is now available on the iTunes App Store, and even better, it’s a free download.
The developer has recently announced plans to not only bring rRootage to the iPhone and iPod touch, but Noiz2sa as well. Both had been previously available as downloads for jailbroken devices.
The only disappointment is that the game doesn’t include any sound effects — I like my shooters to sound like they’re shooters. Gameplay has been perfectly replicated though, and makes great use of the iPhone’s touch controls — in rRootage, your ship fires constantly, leaving you free to avoid waves of enemy fire.
The port also includes all of the extra modes from the original freeware PC version, each inspired by a classic shmup series (Psyvariar, Ikaruga, and Gigawing).
