The fight for ad dollars online may get brutal as economic woes make brands increasingly picky about where they're spending their money. To that end, Google is adamant to prove the effectiveness of its products, and today announced some new tweaks to Google analytics that will help advertisers get a clearer picture of their return on investment.

The new features include custom reports, advanced segmentation, an updated interface, richer data visualizations and an integration with Google AdSense. The most important thing is that advertisers will get even more granular data on who is looking at their ads and segment out information most pertinent to their campaign goals into easy to read charts (like the one below), reports and graphs. Also announced today is an API rolling out soon, that will allow developers to send Google's analytic information to other sites, widgets and publishers, making more Google info available in more places.
