Cube, Open Source FPS, Comes to iPhone

Open source first person shooter Cube is coming to the iPhone, courtesy of developer FernLightning.

The port is said to include all of the features of the original, including multiplayer support and editing, with the warning that "there is no practical interface to use" the latter.

The developer claims that with the project he hopes to bring the iPhone code base to open source, something that is possible now that Apple has dropped its non-disclosure agreement for iPhone software.

FernLightning also hopes to port over Cube 2 — known as Sauerbraten, and based on a different 3-D engine — to the iPhone.

Cube is currently under review by Apple for inclusion on the iTunes App Store, and will be a free download once it comes out.
