The $1.5 billion allotted for digital television transition is dwindling fast, according to FCC Chairman Kevin Martin (right), in a letter to lawmakers.
"While I do not have access to [the National Telecommunications and Information Administration] projections and detailed analyses, I am concerned that the total funding required to satisfy demand may prove to be insufficient," said Martin, in a letter to lawmakers which was obtained by Multichannel News.
The NTIA, which oversees the DTV program, sings a different tune. The organization reportedly expects to return about $300 million in unused DTV funds to the U.S. Treasury.
