The ninth free expansion for EVE Online, dubbed Quantum Rise, has just launched within the massively multiplayer space opera.
Quantum Rise brings with it a number of alterations to the venerable game, including a large-scale rebalancing of the world's industrial ships ("to better suit the needs of haulers and industrialists"), the addition of the Orca capital industrial ship, and a new certificate system that more easily denotes a pilot's relative skill.
Backend changes have also occurred: As developer CCP''s official press release points out, the company recently implemented new server hardware and "technological breakthroughs such as StacklessIO and EVE64," to ensure the game runs as smoothly as possible.

Correction: Despite CCP's giddy revelation, the expansion has not yet hit EVE's server. No official release date has yet been announced.
