Japan sure loves its mascots, and games that include Japanese company mascots do occasionally happen. Mobile phone provider Docomo's title featuring its mushroom-shaped Docomodake has one distinction: it's actually getting a North American release.Developed by AQ Interactive, Boing! Docomodake for the Nintendo DS is an action-puzzle game that puts you in control of Papa Docomodake as he searches for his family.

Gameplay includes a touch of LocoRoco: you can use the stylus to split Papa Docomodake into "Minis," who can then fit into previously unreachable areas.

As for the name Docomodake: it's a word play on the Japanese word take, as in shiitake, which also sounds like the word "only." So it has two meanings: "Docomo mushroom" or "Only Docomo."

Boing! Docomodake is set to come out in March 2009 at a budget price of $20.
