Days after the first photos from Jim Henson's Star Trek Babies (or J.J. Abrams' new Star Trek reboot) surfaced in print and online, details emerged on how an upcoming IDW preview comic links next summer's blockbuster and its villain to Star Trek: The Next Generation.
When Star Trek fans last saw Leonard Nimoy as Mr. Spock in Next Generation, he was trying in vain to negotiate a reunification between Vulcans and the Romulan Empire. Fans catch up to Spock during that same era in Abrams'* Star Trek*.
Meanwhile, Eric Bana plays Nero (right), the time-traveling Romulan bad boy behind whatever mischief Young Kirk and company encounter in 2009 Trek.
The new prequel comic, Star Trek: Countdown, links Spock's quest with Nero's plans and leads into the events of next May's Trek event.
