An interview posted on Nintendo of Japan's official site with the company's president Satoru Iwata hints at some of the things we may be seeing in terms of downloadable apps for the company's new Nintendo DSi.
In the discussion, Iwata mentions that ideas for possible applications to be sold through the online DSi Shop would be Nintendo-themed productivity apps, like a Zelda calculator or an Animal Crossing clock.
These sorts of apps, says Iwata, would be priced at 200 Nintendo Points, or $2. There will also be free downloads, as well as higher-priced tiers for more involved software.
When the DSi launches in Japan this Saturday, two free apps will be available: An internet browser and an interactive memo pad. Nintendo has said that versions of its Brain Age software will be available at a later date, but has not put a price on the games.
