We're not sure if it's a sign of desperation or if it's a premature case of the holiday spirit, but Target is now selling Blu-ray players -- specifically, an Olevia-branded player -- for $229. At this rate, it won't be long before Blu-ray players fall below the consumer-friendly $200 threshold.
The prices weren't supposed to get this cheap this quickly. As recently as six months ago, industry watchers optimistically estimated that players wouldn't fall below $200 until 2009.
