There are many more players than you might think in the game of world social network domination.

A tech blogger in the U.K. has mapped out the most popular social networks based on data from Alexa.

While it is by no means 100 percent accurate, the map is an interesting representation of how diverse the market is across the globe. And some top players stand out, including Facebook and MySpace in the U.S. and Canada, hi5 in many Latin American countries, and Orkut in Brazil. Friendster dominates Southeast Asia and Mixi takes Japan. And owning Russia and the Ukraine is the Facebook clone, Vkontakte.
