Online video creators and internet celebrities have more chances to take home a Webby Award next year.

The
International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences has added several new categories targeting online videomakers, including "Video Remixes and Mashups," "Best Host of Reality and Variety Series," "Best Individual Performance" and "Best Use of Interactive Video" for the 13th edition of the annual competition.

"Our new categories reflect the internet's role as a breeding ground for some of today's most exciting and original talent," said David-Michel Davies, executive director of the Webby Awards, in a statement. "We're looking forward to honoring the performers and personalities who are pushing the medium forward in exciting new directions."

Last year's big winners included YouTube songster Tay Zonday, faux tutorial series You Suck at Photoshop and hit web video Eepybird's Diet Coke and Mentos Experiment.

Submissions for the 2009 awards are due Oct. 31. Nominees will be announced in April, and winners will be awarded at a red-carpet extravaganza in New York in June.
