The hallows have hit the fan.

Following hot on the broomstick of Warner Bros.' decision to delay release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by seven months comes an announcement from Electronic Arts that the corresponding videogame will follow suit. The title, originally expected to hit consoles Nov. 21, will now debut in stores next summer, according to Reuters.

As if that weren't enough bad wizard mojo to dampen Pottermania, U.S. District Judge Robert Patterson ruled Monday in favor of Potter creator and author J.K. Rowling to ban an unofficial Harry Potter encyclopedia from publication.

Former schoolteacher Steven Vander Ark wrote the book detailing information about spells, potions and creatures from the Potter 'verse after running popular fansite* Harry Potter Lexicon. *

Patterson, who ruled the planned book would cause Rowling irreparable harm as a writer, said he made his decision because the "Lexicon appropriates too much of Rowling's creative work for its purposes as a reference guide."
