Dolby cut the list price(for exhibitors) on its 3-D glasses. The freaky-looking reusable glasses are now selling for $27.50, down from $39.
The discount comes just ahead of the new year, when an estimated twenty 3-D films are slated for a theatrical release.
The glasses sound a little pricey, but here's the sales pitch to theater owners: It may be cheaper to buy reusable glasses than to replenish supplies of disposable glasses.
Of course, that argument assumes that audience members won't rip off the glasses left and right.
