In an effort to consolidate player populations and offer a "healthy gaming community" to Age of Conan fans, Funcom will be merging an unknown number of the game's servers.
Though AoC's newly appointed game director Craig Morrison did his best to spin the announcement in his forum address, MMO fans will be quick to point out that merging servers is a clear sign of an ailing game with a player base that no longer requires the firm's initial, overly optimistic hardware estimates.
It had long been assumed that Funcom would be consolidating the game's servers, though the firm actively dodged the question at every opportunity. Though he may only be the harbinger of bad news, it's nice to see Morrison deliver the hard truth when necessary. At the very least, Age of Conan fans can be pleased that the title finally has a game director willing to level with them.
