The foul-mouthed antics of Cartman and his grade-school gang are too much for one country: A religious group in Russia is calling for the immediate nationwide ban of South Park.

The Russian Union of Evangelical Christians is urging prosecutors to bring criminal charges against a TV channel that airs the show, saying the animated comedy contains "covert and overt propaganda of homosexuality and pedophilia as norms of sexual life," according to the Russian News and Information Agency.

Although the show is broadcast on an adult-themed network, group leader Konstantin Bendas maintains the smutty, sly subversion created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone's show is detrimental to young audiences.

"We have received some 15 reports by experts and they all agree that broadcasting the cartoon has a negative impact on viewers, especially on children and teenagers," Bendas told the Russian news agency.

*South Park *has stirred up similar controversy in the United States and elsewhere for its edgy content, and this isn't the first time the Russian TV station has gotten into hot water for broadcasting provocative content. In March 2008, Russian Protestant leaders lobbied to have the channel's license revoked for promoting "immorality and violence."
