SAN DIEGO, CA -- A startup has launched a professional networking web site in an attempt to ride on LinkedIn's success.

At the DEMOfall 2008 conference Tuesday, PaidInterviews gave a tour of its website, saying it offers a more sophisticated digital profile than
LinkedIn. Whereas LinkedIn is essentially an online resume with your mug shot as the only visual, PaidInterviews allows job seekers and employers to post videos, photos and samples of their work.

PaidInterviews' name is derived from a system in which job seekers take away a "success bonus" -- a percentage of their desired salary -- after their first 30 days with their new employer if they are hired through the web site.

"We believe we're on the front end of the next recruitment boom, and our site will promote job satisfaction, greater job performance and lower turnover," said Jim Weaver, PaidInterviews CEO.

In addition to offering more visually savvy profiles, PaidInterviews allows users to search and submit employer ratings -- similar to the employer review web site Glassdoor.
