Netflix CFO doesn't sound all that jazzed about Blu-ray. Even if disc prices are coming down, adoption has been slow and prices may not fall below $300 for another year, according to Barry McCarthy, who was speaking at an investment conference in San Francisco.

"I don’t anticipate a big impact [on Netflix sales]," said McCarthy, according to VideoBusiness.com.

(Side note: Some rumors suggest sub-$200 Blu-ray players may be coming out soon.)

McCarthy isn't betting against the disc any time soon, though -- he thinks the company will continue to ship DVDs to subscribers for up to 10 years.

Blu-ray, the high-definition format that was expected to buoy the disc industry, has proven too pricey for many people, especially in the current economic climate, when plain old DVDs and pirated movie downloads work just as well.
