The operators of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning have taken a vehement stand against trading real money in the MMO, having banned 400 gold sellers since the game's launch last week. And they're on the hunt for more.
On his personal blog, Mythic Entertainment co-founder Mark Jacobs has posted a hilarious entry detailing the steps his company has taken to rid its servers of the gold-selling menace. My personal favorite: a public message that alerts everyone present on the server whenever a player has been banned for advertising "lucrative" gold-selling opportunities.
Even with all the banning, I wonder how effective their efforts will be. As long as there are players with more money than time and/or patience, gold sellers will probably find a way to ply their trade. Nevertheless, it's great to see a company take such a strong, swift approach to fighting the problem.
