Before The Dark Knight dominated the summer superhero scene, Robert Downey Jr.’s Scotch-swilling, womanizing portrayal of Tony Stark cleaned up at the box office.
Now, viewers can fire up their home theater with with the DVD, which soared onto shelves Sept. 30.
Comic geeks will want to bypass the standard version, and head straight for the meat: Both the two-disc and Blu-Ray versions ($40 each) bone up on Iron Man back story.

In addition to the standard fare of deleted scenes and cast and crew interviews, the deluxe edition contains the evolution of the comic’s history from its inception by Stan Lee.
Additionally, there a lengthy featurettes on the film’s stunning visual effects and a two-hour documentary into the mechanics behind the armor.
It’s enough to satiate Marvel fans until Iron Man 2 gets rolling — or at least until The Dark Knight swoops in on DVD this winter.
