We rant from time to time about Swarovski encrustation: Lead-embalmed glass adorning all manner of Paris Hilton's favorite accessories. But the truth is, diamonds are no better. In fact, diamonds are worse, because they cost more.
So upon learning that Knalihs Athem have paid somebody to stick 475 little rocks onto the iPhone 3G, I started to wonder. Who would buy this? Clearly a fool with no idea of real value. Just ask yourself -- why is a diamond valuable? It's not because it's useful (industrial diamonds are pretty cheap) and it's certainly not because of rarity (the big dealers have years of inventory locked away).
Nope, diamonds have a fictional value based on consensus, just like paper money. At least money, while absolutely worthless, is imbued with some usefulness because it can be traded.
The price is unlisted but if you are actually thinking about buying a diamond encrusted iPhone, you deserve it to be as expensive as possible. At least there will only be 50 of them.
