Rare is the band hard to pin down in the 21st century, but The Dears is that rarity. Openly romantic and symphonic yet destabilizing and hypnotic, the Montreal-based brainchild of spouses Murray Lightbird and Natalia Yanchak has another baby on the way. By baby, I mean a sweet new release.
Missiles is equal parts swirling electricity and angelic chorus. Its songs start out as familiarities, but end as head trips. Check out Listening Post’s exclusive stream of "Berlin Heart," and let us know if it’s your kind of spacewalk. If you like what you hear, check out The Dears on the road, starting September 30 in Canada and October 21 in America.
STREAM: The Dears’ "Berlin Heart"
Speaking of checking out, Yanchak has been known to check out Listening Post. She dropped a suggestion in our recent call for the best animated videos ever. Her nomination? The Dears’ "22: The Death of All the Romance."
Once a romantic, always a romantic.
