Shin Megami Tensei MMO Could Escape Japan

UPDATE: Aeria has informed Siliconera that it will indeed publish the game "soon," with English, German, French, and Spanish versions planned.

Fans of the Shin Megami Tensei series who live outside of Japan may finally get a taste of the long-running role-playing game franchise’s first MMO.

Siliconera has uncovered a thread discussion where online gaming community Aeria, who hosts MMO titles from around the world, claims to have acquired the English and German language rights to the Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine MMO.

Imagine was released in Japan last year, and offers free online play in a post-apocalyptic Tokyo where players choose what side to fight on, with plenty of demons thrown in. The game uses an economic model based on microtransactions, where in-game items are bought by players with real-world cash.
