The clever cats at Paramount and Dell had a crazy idea. They teamed up on a deal that lets Dell customers order PCs preloaded with "Iron Man" for $20, according to Hollywood Reporter.
Full disclosure: We haven't seen "Iron Man." It's possible that it's best movie ever made. And it's possible that millions of computer-buying people are going to fork over the $20 to have it loaded on their PCs along with some "exclusive" bonus footage. (The movie made close to $320 million at the box office.)
Still, we don't really get it. Isn't this sort of like buying a car and having it pre-loaded with a pack of cigarettes and a soda?
There is no shortage of options for buying digital content -- on iTunes, for example, "Iron Man" is available for $14.99. And given the plentiful on-demand options -- not to mention DVD options -- what's the point of ordering a computer with a movie preloaded on it?
