The wait for the addition of motorcycles in Criterion's Burnout Paradise is almost over: The much-anticipated "Davis" update to the PlayStation 3 version of the game comes out this Thursday.

Once the free update is installed, you'll have immediate access to two bikes in your garage -- with either male or female riders -- and a new "License" progression to start on.

The update brings a few more changes to the game, including 38 new bike-specific time events, 70 new "Freeburn Challenges," with day and night cycles added to the mix. A new dynamic weather system should also provide some slippery rides.

The update arrives on the PlayStation Network this week, but no word yet on when owners of the Xbox 360 version -- me included -- will be getting their bikes. The previous "Cagney" update took close to a month before it hit the Xbox Live Marketplace following its PlayStation release.
