The Dark Knight rumor mill continues to churn out Gotham grist for fanboys and girls. * *

Aaron Eckhart, who played Gotham's district attorney Harvey Dent and disfigured madman Two-Face in Knight, recently quashed speculation that his character might return to terrorize the city in future films.
"I asked Chris [Nolan] that question and he goes, 'You're dead' before
I could even get the question out of my mouth. 'Hey Chris, am I?'
'You're dead!' All right, cool," Eckhart told ComingSoon.net. Eckhart also tossed in his two cents on prospective villains: "I heard Angelina Jolie was going to be Catwoman or something like that. I thought that was a great idea."
Do you believe in Eckhart? The last few rounds of casting whispers for Nolan's bat saga mentioned Cher donning a catsuit -- but talk of everyone from Johnny Depp as* *puzzle-loving criminal The Riddler to Philip Seymour Hoffman stepping in as sewer-dwelling orphan The Penguin has surfaced on the grapevine.
Whether Eckhart is deliberately dishing misinformation to set the stage for a medically miraculous comeback is unclear, but one thing is certain: We won't know who the next escapee from Arkham Asylum will be until Nolan decides.
