wind-up universal remote control makes you realize just how wasteful it is to be using batteries with these things. The remote contains a built-in generator that you wind up with a dial; 30 full turns will keep the remote running for a week.
This gadget is perfect for that classic roommate scenario in which the remote-control batteries die, there are no spare batteries in the house and both roommates are too lazy to go out and buy some so they end up throwing things at the TV to change the channel or hit the power button. I know what I'm buying Peter for his birthday...
