Street Fighter Alpha will be available for download from the PlayStation Network as of Thursday, revealed Capcom's Grant Luke via the company's official blog.
The wording of the announcement leaves me a bit concerned though: "This Thursday, on the PlayStation Network, we are releasing a new PSone Classics game for download... Street Fighter Alpha."
Any version of Street Fighter Alpha is certainly welcome, but why release the original PlayStation version instead of porting the actual, superior arcade game?
Street Fighter Alpha hit shelves during a period in which Capcom was notorious for shoddy PlayStation ports of their 2-D fighters. Opting for the easier, already-emulated PlayStation game instead of the better version of SFA just reeks of lazy cash-in.
