The premium online video market (including Veoh and Hulu) could be worth about $6 billion by 2013, according to Parks Associates, a market research firm.

It's a nice plump number but it could be modest -- especially considering pie-in-the-sky forecasts from competing research outfits. One firm, for example, expects the mobile TV and video market will be worth $15 billion by 2012; another projects online video market will be worth close to $6 billion by 2011, a good two years earlier than the Parks Associates estimate.

In part, the Parks estimate may be low because it assumes there will be 80 million households with broadband service by 2013. Another research firm, In-Stat, by contrast, projected a couple years ago that the number of broadband households would reach 413 million by 2010.
