NBC Universal will acquire an independent British production company in an attempt to further expand overseas, reports the New York Times.
They also just announced the opening of a Warsaw-based operations to support their growth in Poland.
These might seem like small steps, but they're all part of plan of a much grander scale that kicked off last August, when NBC picked up the major U.K.-based company, Sparrowhawk Media. They also already distribute CNBC throughout Europe and Asia.
The Carnival Film and Television acquisition is merely their latest move in hopes of doubling international revenue by 2010.
The company’s also been eyeing properties in India, Russia, France and Spain, a representative from NBC tells the Times.
And this is not a one-sided move. NBC is hoping the expansion will add some international flavor to current programming here in the U.S. as well.
Look out Grey’s Anatomy… here comes Harley Street!
