The music of Star Wars has survived many mutations, from the 1977 disco funk of Meco to Rob Crow’s metal trudge "Jedi Outcast." But another Padawan learner has thrown its sonic hat into the ring, and it tastes like crunchy Jersey rock. Infernophonic’s "Eye of the Jedi" is bombastic shred the likes of which one used to hear from Heart before it discovered synths, or PJ Harvey when she was contributing tracks to franchises like The Crow and Batman. Which is another way of saying it’s female-fronted noise that has zero to do with Dido. That said, it rocks righteously, gender be damned.
Take a listen and let us know where the song ranks in the Star Wars pantheon for you. Does it beat "Jedi Outcast?" Fall shy of "Star Wars Gangsta Rap?" Tune in, rock out, nerd up.
