The market for miniature laptops continues to grow with Lenovo's Monday announcement of its 10-inch subnotebooks arriving September.

Dubbed the IdeaPad S10, Lenovo's new subnotebook will be powered by a
1.6GHz Intel Atom chipset and come in two configurations. The lower-end model, priced at $399, will include 512MB of RAM and an 80GB hard drive. The higher-end model, priced at $450, will include 1GB of RAM
and a 160GB hard drive.

Similar to Apple's $1,800 MacBook Air, the IdeaPad S10 features a multi-touch touchpad that detects gestures. The IdeaPad S10's 10-inch,
1,024-by-600-pixel screen is a backlit LED, which helps conserve power.
The notebook will weigh about 2.5 pounds.

Lenovo's subnotebook should compete well with Asus's upcoming subnotebooks, which are priced between $700 and $900 and sport very similar specifications.
