Gas prices may be through the roof, but that apparently hasn’t stopped eager vacationers from giving up hope. Travel ground/cruise related websites were the top gaining category up 10 percent from June with a whopping 12.7 million visitors, according to a report released today from comScore.

That isn’t to say that they’re necessarily buying anything, but the window shopping is good for advertisers.

Online retailers in consumer goods showed an 8 percent increase, and entertainment news sites neared the bottom of the list, with gains around 5 percent in July.

And summer blockbusters like The Dark Knight may have contributed to a jump in movie ticket sales.

“Moviefone led the category with 17.5 million visitors (up 12 percent), while Fandango posted a 29-percent gain to 9.3 million visitors and MovieTickets.com jumped 13 percent to 4.7 million visitors,” comScore reports.

Guess this means that while you may not be able to afford a trip to Gotham City, you can at least live vicariously through Christian Bale.
