But beware, they might not be the bands for your kids, especially if the youngsters have been soaking in the saccharine nightmare of Hannah Montana.

Scratch that: They might be perfect for your kids if they've been soaking in the saccharine nightmare of Hannah Montana.

From "Voldemort Can't Stop the Rock" – which is about "sticking it to the man!" as lead singer Harry Potter screams in the video at right – to "Song for the Death Eaters" and onward, Harry and the Potters sound like what might happen if Matthew Sweet crashed headlong into They Might Be Giants.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYzfTuJL5R8Meanwhile, Uncle Monsterface may be the world's only sock-puppet rock band, and at least one of its coolest. Check out their tune "Do the Aeroplane" for a slice of Devo-inspired dork noise, or their "conceptual EP" Nintendode, which contains a song for Wii guru Shigeru Miyamoto called "Miyamoto," or the nuts video at right for "Go!" from their latest effort This is an Adventure!

And then there is Math the Band, whose mash of chiptunes and nerdbeat is as grabbing as anything Dan Deacon has done. Tracks about the hydrologic cycle, algebra and faraway lands are as educational as they are weird. The same could be said for the tour as a whole.

Unlimited Enthusiasm Expo is looping all three groups through the U.S. as you read, in hopes of making you like reading and rock more than before. Feel free to bring your handhelds and pocket protectors. But come ready to mosh. This is the real romper room.
