An overzealous fan is making a plea to be Dr. Horrible's sidekick via YouTube.

"Dr. Dreadful" pleads his case with a fairly convincing application video (right) in which he lists his qualifications – evil cackle, facial hair, a British accent and a rather odd superpower.

Although the video actually comes from a pair of YouTube comedians called "RichAndMark," whose other videos riff on popular internet memes and videos, it poses a fantastic idea for a second season of Dr. Horrible – hold YouTube auditions for a new comical cast of characters. It could be a great way to keep down production costs while boosting fan interest.

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog is the latest project from geek scribe Joss Whedon and Dollhouse
writers Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen. It tells the story of a wannabe villain's quest for entry into a league of evil-doers as he struggles to defeat his archnemesis Captain Hammer and woo his neighbor, Penny.
