NBC and Fox -- backers of an online video joint venture called Hulu -- filed a copyright infringement complaint against Redlasso, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The lawsuit alleges Redlasso, a site that lets online publishers cut excerpts of TV broadcasts and republish them online for their own purposes, permits users to use programming they don't own (such as TV newscasts) they do not own. When Redlasso first received a cease and desist letter back in May, the company said it will continue to make its site "available for use by bloggers providing social commentary on newsworthy events."
We're not sure how exactly they're defining "social commentary" or "newsworthy," but we get the gist of their argument.
