I love Firefox 3, the speed, the features and especially the new "Awesome Bar," but there was one change in the Mac version that's bugged me -- clicking the URL bar now selects the entire URL.
I know that's the default behavior on every other platform, but it's an annoying change from Firefox 2 on the Mac and goes counter to the behavior of Safari and pretty much every other Mac app where clicking merely places the cursor.
Fortunately there's an easy fix: just head to about:config
and look for the browser.urlbar.clickSelectsAll
entry. Change that option to false and you'll have the behavior of Firefox 2 back -- click the URL bar and that's where to cursor goes.
And if you've never dug into about:config
before, it's worth having a look around; or read through Mozilla's documentation. Just make sure you heed the warnings, changing things in about:config
can seriously screw up Firefox.
