Here's the bad news: The greatest live shows on Earth don't happen until the middle of September. Here's the good news: More bands are jumping on board, and room and board is still available. But not for long.
The New York blowout from All Tomorrow's Parties is already hosting My Bloody Valentine's first U.S. appearance in 16 years, which is hard to beat. But ATPNY also gave MBV curator rights for its Sunday show on September 21, and the band has wielded that power for truth, justice and rock. On Tuesday, MBV hand-picked new acts for its Sunday lineup, including Husker Du screamer and The Daily Show soundtracker Bob Mould, as well as Sonic Boom, Le Volume Courbe, Gemma Hayes and Wounded Knees.
Meanwhile, Les Savy Fav, Alexander Tucker and epic instrumentalists Apse are joining the Saturday lineup, while drone noisemakers Bardo Pond has signed on for Friday's full-album performance slate Don't Look Back. The band will be playing Lapsed in its entirety, to go along with Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore performing all of Psychic Hearts, kitchen-sinkers Tortoise performing all of Millions Now Living Will Never Die, Meat Puppets performing their second effort in full and guitar legends Built to Spill playing the peerless Perfect From Now On from front to back.

The last gripload of tickets for shows and rooms for All Tomorrow's Parties New York, which takes place at cushy Kutshers Country Club in Monticello, go on sale July 23. I have never envied the East Coast this much in my entire life.
